Born in Delhi, India, in 1942, Talat Hussain’s journey into the world of performing arts began with his early years in films like “Chiragh Jalta Raha” and Press Information Documentary, “Tasveeri Khabarnama,” where he showcased his sonorous voice and natural acting skills.
Talat’s rise to fame began in the 1970s with his role in “Insaan Aur Aadmi,” a PTV serial that earned him critical acclaim and recognition. His subsequent performances in plays like “Kashkol,” “Rozan-i-Zindaan,” and “Hawaaein” cemented his position as a master of his craft.
One of the most notable aspects of Talat’s acting was his ability to bring authenticity to his characters. He would immerse himself completely in each role, making it impossible for viewers to distinguish between reality and fiction. He established Studio 9, a production company that produced serials for PTV and Shalimar Television Network. His last notable performance was in the TV drama “Jo Baat Ghar Mein Hai,” which showcased his remarkable range as a patriarch.
Talat Hussain’s contributions to the entertainment industry were recognized with numerous awards, including the prestigious Pride of Performance award in 1982 and the Sitara-i-Imtiaz in 2021. He was also a recipient of the Nigar Award, National Film Award, Lux Style Awards, and a Lifetime Achievement award from the Karachi International Film Festival (KaraFilm).
