Territorial Dispute

This is related to your recent cover story on the attempts of the 11 party alliance called PDM to create havoc in the country. But in criticising the government, the PDM has itself landed in trouble and crossed some boundaries. Your cover story is titled ‘Crossing the Red Line’. Former senator and federal minister Javed Jabbar has strongly expressed his views saying if the 2018 polls were rigged, PPP’s victory in Sindh must also be fabricated. Hence, PDM should avoid such a blame game and focus on making efforts to do something good for the country.

Low Pressure
Ever since winter arrived in Karachi, many households have reported the problem of low gas pressure. However, the gas issue is not new to the people of Karachi. Every year during winters, we are faced with the same problem and no one is there to help solve it. The condition is so pathetic that it is almost impossible to cook and people are then left to suffer on their own. They have to buy food from outside but for how long can they manage this? It is almost impossible. Its time SSGC realised their responsibility.

Losing Cool

This is with reference to the article ‘French Connection’ by Syed Zain Abbas Rizvi regarding the remarks made by French President Emmanuel Macron on the caricatures of Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H.) describing it as freedom of speech. The comments were made in context of the student who decapitated his school teacher. From projecting insulting sketches from the 2015 Charlie Hebdo magazine on the walls of Toulouse and Montpellier and sealing one of the mosques, this is a very dangerous situation France has gotten into.

Connection Lost
With schools and institutions closed, students are taking online classes. Unfortunately, students in GB cannot attend these classes as they don’t have good internet connectivity. In this modern era where everything is going digital, Gilgit-Baltistan is still deprived of 4G services. The lone network which is providing 4G services in the region does not provide a strong internet connection and the remote areas don’t have a connection at all. The government must pay attention to this issue and restore 4G facilities in GB.

Political Blunder
The PDM made a serious political blunder by remaining adamant about continuing its public gatherings at the cost of the lives of the public amid the widespread of the deadly virus. This is something they shouldn’t have insisted upon. Somebody in the PDM should understand that Covid-19 is neither political nor a PTI-created agenda. It is a threat to the life of anyone who catches it and these gatherings will put people’s lives at risk. If the PDM continue with its nonsense, it will fall flat on its face as the rise in cases will ultimately outrage the public who banish the PDM once and for all.

Baseless Theory

This is regarding the article ‘Love Jihad’ by Atif Shamim Syed about the inter-cast marriages in India. Most Indian families still prefer marriages arranged within their religion and caste as marriages outside these rigid boundaries have often led to violent consequences. A Tanishq advertisement was also banned for the same reason as it showcases a Muslim family celebrating the arrival of a baby with their Hindu daughter-in-law. Though the ad portrays harmony, the ill-fated society accused it of promoting Love Jihad, a baseless conspiracy theory created by the Hindutva-led BJP to spread more hatred against the Muslims.
