There are many reasons why online programs have become a popular form of distance learning in higher education today.

Education is a basic pillar of every strong nation.Technology has helped human kind at a time of dire need. Online education has proved to be a life saver for the world in the global pandemic. It’s been almost two years that students at every level have forgotten the chirp of chalk on the blackboard. In 186 countries around the world, 1.2 billion children are affected by the pandemic. It’s not only the disease which is making health fragile but online schooling has also become a threat.

There are two diagonal approaches regarding on-line education with lots of surveys and neo-liberal ideologies. There is no harm if we say that the on-line mode of education using several softwares has saved the world from another pandemic, i.e. “Illiteracy”. Pragmatically speaking, the virtual mode of education and work has saved time and resources for the individual. It has created ample opportunities for the masses, some of whom have high expertise in digital marketing and visual and graphic aids. Furthermore, people have become more inclined towards using multiple gadgets. The situation perhaps rightly fits the old adage, “Necessity is the mother of invention.”

On the other side, with the rise of e-learning, the quality of education plus notions of students have been jeopardized. Students aiming for technical qualifications and various disciplines of engineering are most affected. Numerous problems have emerged following adoption of virtual sessions. Flexibility of student during a lecture is a major problem. Researchers have observed that 80 percent of the students get bored and disengaged during a lecture and this leads to unproductivity. Another important and recurring issue is the debugging of errors in connectivity. Login problems, downloading errors, weak internet connections, audio/video problems and other technical issues create disinterest among students.
