Children of a lesser god!
Several villages of Taluka Jati in District Sujawal lack basic facilities. However, the people of these areas have yet to get any attention from the concerned authorities and elected representatives.
Over a dozen villages of Taluka Jati, located in District Sujawal, lack basic facilities that have led to many issues related to the health and social life of people living in these rural areas.
A survey shows that around 12 villages, such as Village Nazar Malah, Kesario Kohli, Village Jumu Malha, Hussain Abad, Ladho Malah, Tarr Khowaja, Barkat Brohi, and others with a population of around 5000 inhabitants are facing long-standing issues.
The ramshackled school building, unavailability of clean drinking water, poor drainage system, improper health facilities, and broken roads are some of the core issues these villagers have been facing for the past two decades without any support on the part of concerned authorities concerned and political stakeholders.
It was learnt by this writer that the building of only state-owned elementary school namely the Government Primary School Mottan Khowaja was on the verge of collapse, thus posing a dire threat to the lives of students and teachers.
The headteacher of the school told the scribe that it was one of the oldest schools of the area imparting education for the past four decades but it could not catch due attention of the concerned authorities as well as the elected representatives of the area who despite knowing about the pathetic condition of the building, never bothered about the renovation of the building.
Imdad Hussain Acharani, the resident of village Hussain Abad, says that after the super flood of 2010, some NGOs worked for the development of this area but miserably failed to provide an indefinite solution to the problems of these areas as a result of those problems have been aggravated by the passage of time.
"These issues can only be solved through the collaboration of government functionaries and elected representatives. However, they have turned a blind eye over the miserable plight of these villages", says Mr. Acharani.
According to a local resident Hanif Malha, the majority of the population of this area is using contaminated water, which is totally unsafe for human health and thus is bound to cause water-borne diseases as well as skin disorders. He added the the drainage and sewerage system of the area is also inferior that has made their life miserable in case of heavy downpour hitting the area across the year.
Mohammad Ayoub says since the people of these villages are facing abject poverty, there wasn't any health facility provided to them by the government. He says that these villages are situated alongside the main road and yet they could not gain the attention of elected representatives of the district so far. ![]()
