Lessons of 2020 & the Way Forward in 2021

The year 2020 was fully packed with uncertainties and a global scare that acted as a catalyst, helping us in uniting our scattered world. COVID-19 sprouted in China at the end of 2019. However, its repercussions engulfed the whole world during 2020. Today, as we enter the new year, we have seen changes on a massive scale. Nevertheless, we are now learning that the deadly virus is self-mutating and newer strands are developing as time passes. The world has encountered an enemy that cannot be seen but felt when it has already taken over.
Melancholy may be the word to describe 2020. However, human resilience towards this menace is also symbolic and should be more prominent in 2021. Along these lines, some lessons have been identified that must be considered by all as we enter the new year.
Appreciate What We Have
Running in the race of survival and improving our quality of life makes us ignore what we have already achieved. Appreciation of what we have can reassure us that we are fortunate than most people out there. Everyone has aspirations to become better. Still, the cost to achieve that status may be much higher than the results that we are hoping to achieve.
Happiness Is Simplicity
As most of the world was struck by social lockdowns and restrictions in our social interactions, we realized how much there is that we take for granted. Embracing a loved one, and meeting with all the favourite people in our lives is what true happiness is all about.
Luxury Cannot Replace Comfort
During the pandemic, global economics were facing strange troughs and crests. Luxury brands around the world suffered the most. It was in these times that we realized the importance of farmers and underpaid healthcare service providers than Hollywood stars and global sports celebrities who are worth millions of dollars.
Nothing Is Certain
2020 taught us that we are negligible in the grand plans of nature. We cannot control natural catastrophes even after centuries of modernization. We can only learn to adapt and survive in the best possible manner.
Businesses Should Be Solving Problems
Among the most prominent lessons that should take us forward in 2021 is to work for the betterment of society. Necessities must be available for all and businesses must be focused on alleviating our problems rather than making profits.
We must welcome 2021 with a new understanding of our existence. We must adopt a collective approach when it comes to our survival. We wish the best for everyone around the world and pray that the new year comes with glad tidings and a safer environment.![]()
