Israel First is Really America First

Izzy Snipestein, chairman of the Whoosh County branch of the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), has arranged a meeting with Tamar Skorpeonburg, president of the county chapter of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) at the Lost Tribe Kosher Bar & Diner, which also serves as an informal headquarter of the Whoosh County Mah Jongg Group, an affiliate of the National Mah Jongg League in New York.
It was a mutually convenient meeting spot because Skorpeonburg is taking part in mah jongg – originally a Chinese game -- challenge there after their meeting.

Skorpeonburg has her glass of Manischewitz, that syrupy sweet sacramental wine; while Snipestein is nursing his slivovitz, a throat-burning plum-brandy.

They toast to the 240-9 victory in Congress when the House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) introduced standalone legislation to provide Israel with $1 billion for its Iron Dome missile defense system. Earlier, the provision had been blocked from the final version on the insistence of the Squad -- a group of progressives -- who said they would sink the legislation unless that funding was struck from it.
“Izzy, did you see this self-hating Jew, [journalist] Glenn Greenwald saying that he is still looking for someone to reconcile the ideology of ‘America First’ with continuing to transfer billions of dollars in American taxpayer money every year to this wealthy foreign country to pay for their military, instead of letting them pay for it themselves…”

“Tamara, yes… he is seething that this $1 billion is not a loan, but what he calls it, a giveaway… You can’t call him, a self-hating Jew. He is outright anti-Semitic… I would say that he is the world’s unique anti-Semitic Jew… and jealous too. He is complaining that Israelis enjoy a higher standard of living in key areas like health care and education than millions and millions of Americans have. He is questioning what justifies sending their tax money to pay for Israel's military when many have so little at home and Israel can pay for their own defense?”

“Izzy, no one could ever imagine that Glen could be so despicable. Has he ever questioned that Pakistan has millions of atom bombs… who knows, like Taliban, Pakistan may be arming the Palestinians too?
“I am seeing the emerging outcome of Glen’s anti-Semitic whining… already, I am hearing murmurs that a bill should sponsor a Palestinian iron dome system… Glen is un-American. Period.

“I mean, Izzy, you know that we, AIPAC and ADL, keep the American democratic system running. Glen needs to ask the more important question: how much of that taxpayer money finds its way back to American politicians' campaign finances and private bank accounts? And what would American politicians do without our briefs… they can’t make out between Syria and Seychelles… [she guffaws] for 20 years they kept pumping money into Afghanistan without ever knowing who was winning or losing all the time.

“Glen and his sort are pro-BDS [the Palestinian-led Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement], far-Left radicals who refuse to accept that the $3.8 billion that Israel gets from the U.S. is peanuts…it is in effect quid quo pro money. It can be military or intelligence assistance, use of military bases, agreement to purchase other American stuff, both military and commercial. Isn’t it due to Israel’s powerful presence that the Arab countries have agreed to transact oil using the American dollar, which means that the dollar is the global reserve currency? Only, if this self-hating lot could start thinking that in a broad macroeconomic and geopolitical perspective, the Israel funding is America First.

“Most of this aid to Israel is being spent on American defense companies hiring American workers, generating revenue and new R&D projects. And this aid is just 1/750th of America’s military budget and goes to the defensive only system of one of our closest and most important allies.”

“You are right Tamar, Israel is America’s enforcer… it takes out dangerous assets in the Middle East… like it wiped out Syrian and Iraqi nuclear programs. Israel has taken out Iranian nuclear assets, halting their advance. Isn’t all this America First?”

“Izzy if Israel wasn’t there, the crazy Arabs would be turning off our oil spigot like it’s a soda machine. An unruly lot… Israel is the most effective way to keep their napkinned and roped heads straight.
“Glen and all are asking ‘America First’ when they are advancing a true anti-imperialist critique.

“Izzy, one big fat fact we all miss to mention is while American Jews today are about 2–3% of the population, but 30% of the country’s billionaires are Jews. So, look at the reality that the rich pay most of the taxes anyway, shouldn't it be up to them which countries they want to subsidize to keep an eye out on their interests wherever in the world?”

“Tamar, at ADL our job is to stop the defamation of the Jewish people… we need to make Americans aware that Israel First is really America First.”
