Nestlé Pakistan to showcase efforts to advance regenerative food systems at 29th Sustainable Development Conference

Nestlé Pakistan returns to SDPI’s flagship sustainability forum following two top honours in 2025

ISLAMABAD | November 2026

Nestlé Pakistan is set to participate in the 29th Sustainable Development Conference (SDC) and Sustainability Investment Expo (SIE), hosted by the Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) from November 2 to 5, 2026, bringing to the forum its efforts to advance regenerative agriculture through food systems, climate action and water stewardship, better systems and packaging, and circular economy.

Building on its recognition at last year’s conference, where Nestlé Pakistan secured 1st Position in Renewable Energy & Low-Carbon Transitions at the SDC Sustainability Awards 2025 and received the Best Pavilion Award at the Sustainability Investment Expo, Nestlé Pakistan will return this year to demonstrate how sustainability is being embedded across its value chain, from farms and factories to communities and ecosystems.

Under the theme “Advancing Regenerative Food Systems at Scale,” Nestlé Pakistan’s presence at the Sustainability Investment Expo will offer visitors an immersive view of interventions being undertaken across its sustainability pillars. Artfully rendered models and interactive displays at the Nestlé pavilion will demonstrate Nestlé Pakistan’s sustainable practices and its partner farmers, helping visitors experience how renewable energy, regenerative farming, water stewardship and packaging circularity come together to strengthen the resilience of Pakistan’s food systems.

“At Nestlé, we believe building more resilient food systems starts with supporting farmer livelihoods and healthier ecosystems, while strengthening the value chain. Meaningful collaborations such as these help protect, renew, and restore the environment, while also paving the way for better systems that promote responsible packaging, and improved waste management for circular economy. We remain fully committed to scaling these efforts and creating lasting impact for people and the planet,” said Sheikh Waqar Ahmad, Head of Corporate Affairs & Sustainability, Nestlé Pakistan & Afghanistan.

Nestlé Pakistan’s participation will extend beyond the exhibition floor to the conference’s policy dialogue. The high-level joint plenary titled “Transforming Pakistan’s Agriculture and Food Systems in an Age of Disruption: AI for Regenerative and Climate-Smart Agriculture,” will bring the conversation around agriculture, climate resilience and emerging technologies into the wider SDC discourse.

“Pakistan’s development challenges require us to rethink how we produce food, manage natural resources and build resilience to climate change. The transition towards regenerative and climate-smart food systems is both environmentally as well as economically imperative to build a more sustainable and food-secure Pakistan,” said Dr Abid Qaiyum Suleri, Executive Director, Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI).

The showcase comes as Nestlé Pakistan continues to make advance its sustainability ambitions. Recording more than 48% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions in 2025 compared with its 2018 baseline, Nestlé Pakistan is working towards halving emissions by 2030 and achieving net zero by 2050. Its interventions include 9.6 MW of solar power capacity across manufacturing sites, a 20 ton/hour biomass boiler at Kabirwala Factory, and renewable energy and energy-optimization initiatives comprising 135 solar plants and 25 biogas plants at farms.

Regenerative agriculture and circular ecosystem remain central to this journey. Nestlé aims to source 50% of its key ingredients from farmers adopting regenerative agriculture practices by 2030, while 40% of its fresh milk is already sourced through regenerative agriculture. On the circular economy front, Nestlé’s efforts are in-line with its vision that none of its packaging ends up in landfills or as litter. These efforts include packaging innovation and collection and recycling partnerships designed to support better packaging and better systems.

These efforts underscore Nestlé Pakistan’s leadership in driving climate action and sustainable growth in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Nestlé Pakistan’s participation at SDC and SIE reflects its Creating Shared Value approach, which seeks to align long-term business success with meaningful impact for people, communities and the planet.
