Charity Begins at Home

Only seven months from now, on November 8, 2022, all 435 seats in the House of Representatives -- 226 Democrats (including 4 Delegates) and 214 Republicans -- and 34 of the 100 seats in the Senate – 14 Democratic and 20 Republican -- will be contested.

First lady Jill Biden has stated that two years of tuition-free community college won’t be part of the Democrats’ stalled childcare, healthcare, and climate package because Congress hasn’t passed the Build Back Better legislation yet.

An obvious vote garner was lost. The attempted filler was mocked: a $500 addition to the now $6,495 per student a year Pell grant award.

The Democratic majority in the House of Representatives is a grand 7 members. The Senate numbers which were equalized with wins in Georgia were lost when senators Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema turned more red than blue.

President Joe Biden averaged a 40.6% approval rating with a 53.7% disapproval rating, according to a poll by Real Clear Politics released on Feb. 14, 2022. Such polling numbers don’t bode well for the upcoming midterm elections.

In the shadows of this bleak situation, Democratic strategists offered an alternative that was readily embraced: a war, a cold-blooded disinterest in tackling Islamophobia at home, and a tighter embrace of Israel to offset the pain caused by Amnesty International declaring it an apartheid entity.

The poll numbers for Speakers Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) aren’t too promising either.

The disturbing numbers have the Democratic National Committee in a spin. Of course, it is time to call in a consultant, and who could be better than I.D. “Izz” Svampstein, president of the Institute of Great America Studies.

Svampstein, is at DNC headquarters, presenting his plan to chair Jaime Harrison to help Democrats save their House majority, “Jaime, the top vote-getter in America is war. Tell me who doesn’t love a war, hot or cold? Whatever the variety, it sells weapons and creates jobs and prosperity…”

“You are right, Izzy. War is part of us, and we are part of war. The United States has been at war for more than 226 of the 246 years since its inception in 1776. See like we led the Arabs by the leash to accept Israel and the win-win situation is that it didn’t cool down arms buying. We have Yemen like a weapons magnet. There are no tools down in our weapons mills…”

“And Jaime, we have China on the warmer… but there is Ukraine. Red hot. The European Union and NATO have joined us in our drive to have a war with Russia. We should not let this war go. Yes, it is easy to lose this opportunity… to the loss of our workers and industry…. Our Wall Street. The moment we signal that Ukraine will not be invited to join NATO, we will lose this war opportunity. We could grow this baby… our weapons makers will be running to the Gulf states and get them buying more.”

“Izzy, things are going well. Pelosi is fast-tracking the ‘Defending Ukraine Sovereignty Act of 2022’, straight to the House of Representatives. It will see $500 million from the Foreign Military Financing program sent to Ukraine for 2022. We have already delivered 90 tons of lethal aid and weapons are flowing into Ukraine while we are mobilizing warships to the Black Sea and a surge in troops encircling Russia.”

“Jaime, it’s all perfect. Now, you guys need to talk louder about it and tell the American people that what’s good for our military-industrial complex is good for Americans. And that’s the way to put a T-Bone steak and beer on every American table for everyone. It should improve numbers by the mid-terms.

“Now… now we have to have Biden constantly repeating that NATO doors are always open to Ukraine and all European countries of the old Soviet Union.

“The Ukraine crisis is pushing Russia and China into a tighter embrace and again you are creating weapons sales opportunities.”

“And Izzy, we are taking good care of the Israel factor too. Nancy (Pelosi) is going there to lift spirits and assure that we stand with apartheid… we are a nation built on robbing lives and livelihoods of those who are accursed, being not born white.

“Charity begins at home. Biden has proved it to the American people by giving half of the Afghan assets to families of 9/11 victims.”

“Jaime, you right. This is another win-win for Joe Biden.”
