Sardaar Ji 3
Spirit, Saree, and Bhangra
The newly released Sardaar Ji 3 is a film made in India but released in Pakistan. It is a collaboration between Indian and Pakistani artistes. Having received a rating of 5.3/ 10 on IMDB, the film is a romance and crime thriller with a 2-hour and 35-minute runtime. Directed by Amar Hundal, it has as its leads Diljit Dosanjh as Jaggi, Neeru Bajwa as Pinki, and Hania Aamir as Noor.
The producer is of Pakistani origin, allowing it to surpass the ban on Indian films.
The plot is not as simple as it seems. The film starts on the note of a ghost hunter, Jaggi. Pinki is a witch, and Noor is also a ghost hunter. As Noor takes up a project worth a million pounds to hunt a defiant ghost residing in a castle in the UK, she cannot execute her job, so she asks for Jaggi’s help. Together, the trio—Jaggi, Noor, and Pinki — unravel the darkest secret and try to solve the most challenging case.
The dialogues in the film are mainly delivered in Punjabi and English. The chemistry between Jaggi and Noor is striking and electrifying. Hania Amir, or Noor as in the film, turns heads with her classy sarees and beautiful face, making the film more engaging and enjoyable.
Dressed in saarees of different nuances of red, yellow, and black as she appears in a romantic song opposite Jaggi, the couple steals the show. Jaggi wins hearts with his good looks and witty humour, whilst Noor, with her wild hair, as Jaggi calls her, adds a spark to an otherwise dull film. It would be only fair to say that the film’s first half was a drag, but the second half picked up pace, and the spectators’ interest was renewed.
The music is loud, catchy, and energetic, and the dance form of bhangra is best suited to the type of music. It was exciting to watch the sprightly dance moves, and the audience wanted to sway with the dance moves and the beat of the songs.
The film’s thematic concern centres on love. The plot is a love triangle between Pinki, Jaggi, and Noor. But as the film unfolds, the two rival women, Pinki and Noor, make peace at the end.
Sardaar Ji 3 is a funny, clean comedy with just enough spookiness to keep things interesting.
The film was banned in India after the Pehalgham incident. The fact that the film was allowed to screen in Pakistan depicts Pakistan’s efforts at cordial relations with India.
Despite criticism, such as a weak plot and silly humour, the film deserves to be watched.![]()
