Neglected Namal Valley:
A Beautiful Place in Need of Healing
Despite repeated appeals, no single government hospital is available for the people of the Namal Valley.

Namal Valley, located in District Mianwali and surrounded by the majestic Salt Range, is one of Pakistan's most beautiful valleys. The area is inhabited by warm-hearted and patriotic people, many of whom serve proudly in the armed forces. The valley offers breathtaking views throughout its stretch, making it a place of great natural charm and serenity.
In addition to its scenic beauty, Namal Valley is home to several historical sites worth visiting.
However, it is deeply regrettable that this beautiful region remains neglected. Despite repeated discussions and appeals regarding health facilities, no single government hospital is available for residents to seek medical treatment or emergency care. Numerous requests have been made through various platforms, urging the authorities to establish at least one well-equipped hospital to serve the people of this land — but the demand still awaits fulfillment.
Although land owned by the Punjab Government is already available, the dream of establishing a government hospital in Namal Valley is yet to be realized. This negligence continues to challenge the sincere efforts of residents who have long demanded a basic health facility.
Nearly 50,000 people remain deprived of essential medical services, forcing them to rely on private doctors who charge exorbitant fees.
The situation has become alarming — once considered a noble profession, healthcare has become a business enterprise. Many poor residents cannot afford even a doctor’s consultation, let alone expensive treatments. The government must immediately regulate medical fees charged by private practitioners and ensure the supply of affordable, quality medicines.
Furthermore, upon entering this honourable profession, doctors should remember the spirit of service and strive to provide economical care to their patients.
At the same time, it is the government’s duty to monitor the functioning of the health sector and take practical measures to protect public welfare. Therefore, it is earnestly requested that the higher authorities establish a government hospital in Namal Valley on the land already owned by the Punjab Government, to provide the people of this region with the healthcare facilities they rightfully deserve.![]()
