The Other View
There is a need to see the Taliban from another lens than just that of the West.

The West is promoting a narrative that the Taliban are extremists and terrorists who are intolerant, conservative, ignorant, uneducated, barbaric, etc. But the same West (Americans) was begging for talks with the Taliban for a peace deal in Afghanistan. They tried all possible ways and means to contact the Taliban but failed. Finally, albeit unwillingly, they approached Pakistan, seeking support to bring the Taliban to the negotiating table.
As usual, Pakistan once again helped America and convinced the Taliban about the need for peace negotiations (with the US and its allies). As a result of several rounds in Doha, the capital of Qatar, a peace deal was reached between the Taliban and the US in February 2020. Pakistan was kept out of the negotiations and was never a part of any peace deal as it was purely between the Taliban and the US administration. However, during the course of discussions, whenever there was a deadlock, Pakistan was asked to play a role in bringing the interlocuters back to the table. Pakistan’s performance was praised by the US, many global leaders and the UN. But there was nothing beyond that.
Are the Taliban as bad as the Western media has been projecting them to be? Are they really terrorists? Are they cruel and barbaric? Why was the US begging them for peace? Why was the US negotiating with them? Why has the US signed a Peace Deal with them? Many questions arise in the minds of people around the globe. It is a part of Western history and strategy that they identify an enemy and then distort its image, highlighting all possible evils in them. The unholy media of the West is used as a tool to build a narrative and smoothen public opinion for Western powers to launch military and political adventures.
This has been going on for a long time, some cases in point being Iranian Prime Minister Mohammad Musadaq in the 1950s, Khomeini of Iran, Saddam Hussian of Iraq, Qaddafi of Libya, Bashar Ul Asad of Syria, Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden and now the Taliban. The BBC reported that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction and could be a threat to mankind. America and its cronies, such as Britain and many European countries, launched a campaign to defame and distort the Sadam Hussain government and build a narrative that Saddam must be eliminated. The Iraq war was launched and millions were killed, millions were made homeless and millions were forced to take refuge in other countries. The infrastructure and economy were destroyed and, in the end, it was found that there were no weapons of mass destruction! The BBC admitted its mistake and the British Prime Minister John Majors apologized publically but the damage could not be reversed, the people killed could not be brought back to life!
The same was repeated in case of Qaddafi and the people of Libya are suffering to this day. There is still continuing strife in countries like Iraq and Syria and these nations have just been riven asunder.
The BBC blamed Syria for using chemical weapons against insurgents, a war was launched on Syria against the government of Bashar Al Asad but any concrete evidence of their using chemical weapons against insurgents could not be established. There are so many other examples about the West using its media to build a narrative and support its political and military actions against any country they think needs to be taught a lesson.
They have been doing the same against the Taliban. In their mischievous machinations, they forget that the Taliban leadership is highly educated and enlightened; some of them have been educated at reputed universities in Europe and America. They are experts in economy, politics, engineering, science, technology and have all modern knowledge. In recent Afghan history, the Taliban era of 1996 to 2001 was the best era when drugs were eliminated, crimes were reduced, justice was delivered instantly and society was so peaceful that everyone could sleep at night without fear. The government was strong, the law and order situation was excellent, the judiciary was performing very well, etc. They might have been facing many other challenges like the economy but overall, Taliban rule was one of the best eras in the recent history of Afghanistan.
Today, the Taliban are more mature, more experienced and more refined. Western propaganda against them is baseless and totally wrong. They hold the major part of the country and are moving rapidly. The Afghan National Army is surrendering and handing over weapons and ammunition to the Taliban. They are the real pillars of power in Afghanistan and real representatives of the people. They have won the hearts and minds of the Afghan public but the American puppets are opposing them. They are capable of managing the country very well and this time they will prove it. Almost half of the world’s countries are ready to recognize their rule and are willing to work with them closely. The Taliban are the winners in the two-decade long war and the US has been defeated. Those who sided with the foreign occupation of Afghanistan do not deserve any share in any future political setup in the country. Four decades of suffering for the people of Afghanistan may soon end.![]()

Excellent analysis by author. We cannot expect sport from so called independent western media. Our own media is silent and looking towards the west. Such articles are a big effort to realise the facts among the nations.
